Sliver-Tis the Spring

With the onset of spring (what few GOOD days we've had) comes flip flops and bare feet. Last week (i think) there was one day when the weather was pretty nice out. Owen absolutely loves to be outside, so any chance he gets he is out. Well we were eating our afternoon snack outside on the deck. When I noticed that he was walking kinda funny. So I took a look and sure enough he had a sliver. I know this will be one of MANY, but I thought it was a pretty nice one to start the season...

Sorry its a little fuzzy. I kept trying to zoom in on the sliver and it kept picking up the foot. Don't know my camera all that well to try and change it. He wasn't real happy w/me anyway tht I was taking pictures.

Excuse the man hands...I just don't have nice nails and never will.

Easter Weekend

Easter Egg Hunting at G & G Craig's Friday Night

ALL the Craig Cousins.
Kolby, Brooks, Maddie, Boston, Keegan, Owen, Garrett, Karson
Easter Morning at G & G Rundquist's
We had a great Easter weekend. Busy, but got to see a lot of family. My aunt Jo from SD came to mom's. The kids had a great time w/her and Pooky (dog).
PS- Owen would NOT smile for a picture so this was the best we could do all dressed up.

Field Trip to Concordia

A couple of weeks ago both Brent and I left Owen with my in-laws and went with the kids on a field trip to Concordia. We had a good time despite the weather being cold and windy. We went to the Brown Grand Theatre and saw a play called "Molly makes 6" About a girl who wants a dog. (Right up Maddie's alley, no we still don't have a pet, but I will say I did feel bad when the play was over and taking a tour of the theatre, the tour guide asked how many kids had pets? Maddison was the only one in K-2 who DIDN'T raise her hand. I did get an "I told you so look" though!) Brent headed w/Garrett to the Orphan Train museum while Maddie and I finished at theatre and then switched. After that it was onto Cloud County Juco, where we ate lunch and the kids recorded some things for their Longford Book/DVD project. One group got to see the biology lab w/snakes, our group was fortunate to miss that and hit the gym w/CC BB players. Maddison LOVED it. Garrett not so much, but was really impressed w/the basketball holder "thing" He shot baskets w/that. After that we went to the new wind farm technology classroom (main reason Brent went) and then out to the windfarm for a quick picture. We had a great time!

Jump Rope

My friend Julie sent me this link about a group of girls jumping rope. I am expecting some little competion on the playground. I was DEAD WRONG! If every gym teacher/parent could get their kids to do even an 1/16 of what these girls do I don't think we would have an obestity problem in the world...These girls are in WAY better shape than an average person. They aren't even breathing hard!..

Pack Mule

Sunday's are always a little hurried. It really doesn't seem to matter how early I get up we always seem to be rushed. We think we are doing good on time until someone thinks they need to shower AGAIN. Or Maddie and I fight about the outfit (ugh..SERIOUSLY, kindergarten and 6, hate to think what 16 is going to be like!) or I don't have anything to wear! This morning was good, because it was just Brent and I, the kids stayed at my parents. But when we came home from church it was 12:30, no one had eaten lunch, Owen fell asleep on the way home (so there goes everyone laying down at same time for a nap), kids had overnight bags, bibles, ss papers, children's church crafts, shoes, coats, purses, diaper bag, coffee cups, kleenex's. I got out of the van and got Owen up to his crib and went back out to the van to help carry things and Garrett stops me and says...
"EVERYONE WANTS ME TO CARRY EVERYTHING, I AM NOT A PACK MULE!!! I CAN'T CARRY EVERYTHING!" That may not be funny to everyone, but I busted out laughing. Maybe it was his dramatics or both, but I thought too cute not to share.

I don't know I am thinking that the van makes a pretty good pack mule, the "stow and go" is pretty cool too!

Easter 07 & 08

Not much has been happening lately at the Craig's. We have yet to stand up the swingset, its still on its side. It can be fixed though, that is the good news, but needing a new header and legs so until we get the lumber for that its not going to be fixed. Yesterday we did go outside and enjoy the snow, but forgot to take the camera out, so no pics there. Otherwise a pretty uneventful, mundane week(end). So I thought I would post some past pics of previous Easter's.
Our church always has a sunrise service and then serves a potluck breakfast afterwards. Then we have our regular church service. Between the two there isn't a whole lot of time, so we usually go to my mom and dad's to get ready for church. The Easter bunny comes there and we take pictures. The picture in 07 has a different background than atleast 5 previous years. My mom and dad's couch is usally the background. Checkout pic 2008.

Wind, wind, go away come again another day

When we were building our house, we noticed that the wind blew. And over the almost 5 years we have lived year, I feel like we have dealt quite nicely w/the wind situation. At year 1 we had our garage and mud room (under construction w/rafters) blow over in a thunderstorm. That night while we were laying in bed listening to the wind Brent had committed on just how strong the wind seemed to be. I think we both dozed off and the next thing we hear is a loud "CRASH-BOOM-BANG). Brent says to me "you get up and check to see if that was our garage because I just can't look" Yep it was, all the rafters laying on the concrete like a domino pieces that had fallen once they are lined up and pushed over.
We have also had to replace our grill that had blown off our front porch several times and finally busted so bad the last time that it was beyond fixable. The new one has more than a few dents itself from being pushed around. In year 3 our trampoline blew away twice, the last time while we were on vacation to yellowstone. I think it layed in our pasture a week before we could go retrieve it. Our trees that we planted when we moved in are still strong. But I truly believe they will be forever shaped/leaning toward straight south or straight north. Maybe just maybe in the end they will even out.
Anyway...this morning my good friend Julie called me in somewhat of a panic about their trampoline. It seems to have blown up against a tree and what could she do? So I told her that when we finally replaced the trampoline (my mother's day present last year) we bought pet stakes, the ones that you can screw into the ground w/a loop at the top. Brent got rope and he zig-zag(ed) the rope through and around the tramopline. I told Julie that really works. I said we are looking good out here today. If people in town are complaining that its windy there, that means it "VERY VERY VERY WINDY" at my place. I told her maybe find something to weight it down until she get something more permanant. Good luck I told her and hung up. 30 minutes later I look out the window and blew a sigh of relief, "GOOD, trampoline is still there..whoa what is that board? No it couldn't be?......

Yep...the kids swingset blew over. Ugh....I will be sure to keep you updated on our next "home improvement project" Oh and if anyone needs someplace to put a windmill/windfarm I know just the place.
