Ear Infection

Good News: The tubes are working, its draining.
Bad News: This is what my baby looks like after waking up this am. Very red, swollen, and inflamed ear from the drainage.
Good News: We have drops for the next 7 days.
Bad News: The drops were WAAAAAAAAAY expensive and my friend informed me she has 2 bottles of the very same med. that she got for free from her dr. Sigh
Good News: Owen has met his prescription deductible until Sept 2010

Bass Pro

While in KC on the way home we stopped at the somewhat new Bass Pro Shop. The kids had been there w/my parents but Brent and I had never been there. Wow was the entrance impressive. I was too enthralled w/it that I forgot to take pics. We walked around. Brent and Owen tried on hats while the kids and I tried to find some "logish" artwork, no such luck, but found a lot of furniture that would have looked really cool, but came home w/none.

Owen trying on warm hats. This was taken about 2 minutes before he had a meltdown as we had pushed nap time a little to far back. We hit the road soon after.
Kids in front of fireplace at entrance.

Trip to KC

On Sat. afternoon my famiily and I took off and headed to KC to meet this little gal...Morgan
Garrett & Morgan
Maddie and Morgan
Owen wasn't real interested. He said Baby, Baby and then would jump off the couch and run around.
Meet Big Brother Mark Jr. Jr aka Grady and Big Brother Mark Jr. aka Kael and Morgan -
We decided not impose on our gracious hosts anymore and splurged and stayed in a hotel. It was ok. The pool was on the cool side, but hot tub was nice. Brent doesn't like to swim and w/the pool being cold he refused to get in the pool so I had to get in w/owen. While in the pool I cut 2 of my toes on the grate in the bottom of the pool. Man does it still hurt. I have no idea how that happend. Breakfast was ok. But couldn't eat when we wanted because there was a bb team eating and then after they were done just sat in the breakfast area sitting at the 6 tables. It was little annoying that they couldn't sit somewhere else. We could have tried to eat but w/3 kids there was no way we could load up the breakfast and take back up to room. So we waited about and hour and went back down and could eat. The beds were comfortable, but not sure the bathroom had been cleaned all the way. But by 10pm, we decided we could handle it and not try and change rooms. Despite all that we had a good time. Apparently I am a little old fashioned and think that w/the price we payed for a room that we could get a little better room. Overall it was like I said ok. Neither great nor terrrible! Just thankful that we were able to get away. I don't know what it is when we go to a motel that my children just think its a free for all. We were on the 2nd floor and Owen decided that jumping like a frog was a great idea. As luck would have it, we were checking out of rm 217 at the same time rm 117 was checking out. We humbly apologized for the leap frog. The couple was very gracious and said they had 3 children (they were all grown) and we should have no worries!

Update on Jeans Shopping

Well I tried again today. A different town and my mom went with me, to help w/Owen. A good thing she went because the O-man decided that sleeping in the stroller while strolling thru the mall, just wasn't his kind of thing. And there were still a few moments of screeching and whining in the dressing room, but far less than if I would have been by myself. After trying on pair after pair, I finally narrowed it down to about 4 pairs. But then price factor came into affect and that bumped down to 2. SO I did find some, and it was a gut-check when I got the bill. I think I will keep the tags on them a little bit longer. One moment I am thinking, "I'm done, I'm done." Another, "I can't keep these, I need too many other things." We shall see....

Even though I found 2 pairs there were A LOT of pairs that didn't make the cut. I still FIRMLY and WHOLE-HEARTEDLY agree w/my previous jean post. I still don't know who designs/makes jeans these days. However today, I must have had a some-what real person, that somehow slipped into the design room, somehow managed to get these into production and out on the shelves.

But trust me when I say I'm gonna pay and not just money!

My Mother - In - Law

My mother - in - law has a birthday today. (insert picture here, oh wait I can't find one, because she doesn't sit still long enough)

This lady is completely, undoubtedly, a Proverbs 31 women. She is a pure joy! She gets up waaaay before anyone else and goes to bed waaaaaaaaay later than anyone else. And in between, those 18 hours, she is WORKING. Working Hard. Her hands are cracked and callused. She is always hurrying. This lady eats every meal cold, because she doesn't sit still long enough to eat it hot. She can pull a calf, drive a tractor, dig a post, repair fence, bale, drive a truck, shovel grain, grow beautiful flowers, make a cake, chicken n noodles over mashed potatoes, teach SS and even does some preaching now and then. This truly is the short of a verrrrry long list.

Though I have only known her for 14 years, her spirit and kindness have never waivered. She is complete. The last couple of years has been "when it rains it pours" kinda years. She was severely injured by a bull who threw her up over a fence at the vet. And broke her upper arm and was in a cast for weeks (very LONNNNNNNNNNG weeks for her) about a year later she had a freak accident and was burned when burning brush at the farm. She has recovered completely and is back to work full force.

She (along w/her husband) have raised 3 very hard working men. Who in turn married 3 very lovely ladies! Debbie hasn't been pampered much. But us girls are slowly but surely changing that! We've managed to get her to try a few more "girlie"things, but she will and forever be "a very practical women"

Another quality about her is her willingness to help out whenever and wherever. She can babysit at the drop of the hat. She came and helped stain our logs in our house. And not long after we moved in she came and removed the snake in our house that had found its way behind the dishwasher. (Brent and I both hate snakes). She helps not only family, but ANYONE. Sometimes I want to say it is ok to say NO you don't have to do EVERYTHING.

This lady rocks. A true Proverbs 31 women! Happy Birthday Debbie!

PS-She won't read this because they don't own a computer, but I can still brag on her..

Stuff, stuff and more stuff......

The Webster defines stuff as: 1. materials, supplies, or equipment used in various activities. 2.material to be manufactured, wrought, or used in construction. 3.a finished textile suitable for clothing.

Ok so their are 8 different defintions. But the one I like best is this: 6a : fundamental material. Ding Ding! That is what I have! All my stuff is "fundamental Material"

I read what old Mr. Webster defined as "fundamental material": stuff of greatness....inserting my deflated balloon here-. I don't have "stuff of greatness". Ok. so maybe I thought at one time it was stuff of greatness, but now my style and size has changed. Now it is purely defintions #1 & 2, and 3

I am having a garage sale this weekend. I truly thought I didn't have much. But I have done some major purging these last few weeks. I really do enjoy having a garage sale. The prep stuff is a bit much, but to see the stuff going and not coming back and a little change in my pocket is always exctiting for me. But this time: I am just sick of the stuff. These questions come flooding to me:

  1. Where did this come from?
  2. Have I used this within a year?
  3. Does this fit?
  4. Will I wear this ever again?
  5. What was I thinking?
  6. Can I get a quarter out of this or should I just pitch it?
  7. Garrett & Maddie will never know.....
  8. Will Owen ever where this and is 6 years too long to keep a hold of these pants?
  9. What on earth is this?
  10. This still has TAGS on it.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE garage sales. I get a rush. I am sooo afraid that I am going to miss out on a good deal. That I have a hard time staying home. So I get all excited and go and then disappointed that I didn't get the bargain that I wanted! Notice I said WANTED not needed!!! Its a vicious cycle. I have a garage sale to get rid of my stuff only to want to GO to garage sales to get more stuff!!! I will have to say this is my 2nd well maybe 3rd garage sale this year. Eeewww. saying that publically makes me feel waaaaaay bad. First one I threw some stuff on my sisters garage sale just to give an appearance that we had a lot of stuff. My sister in law and I had another one in May. Case in point: It was wakefield city wide that same day. I wanted to leave the garage sale where I was selling -to go to wakefield and garage sale to buy!

However the stuff that I have is pretty "decent stuff " AND someone else's stuff is another persons treasure!!! So if you are looking for:

  1. Dining Room table w/leaf and chairs

  2. Boys sz 12-24mo

  3. Boys 8-10 (s & m)

  4. Girls 6-8 (s)

  5. changing table

  6. baby monitor

  7. household

  8. young adult clothing

  9. 2 stock pots

  10. some decor & misc.

Then have I got the place for you!!! And this is just my list. My sister in law has laser printer, scrapbooking, infant and young adult clothing. My sister also has a blue library (sititng chair) and some other goodies as well..
