Sorta Chicken' Out

Some would say we fully chickened out...I am saying we partially did. After listening to Owen scream for 30 minutes (which all in all isn't that long) we decided to cut a slit into the LAST pacifier. Not actually cut a " off the tip" THat worked well. So thinking that we will keep it like that for a few days and make the slit bigger and/or start cutting the tip off.

Why or why didn't I get rid of it at a LONG time ago. Its 4 times harder now.

Well...let me tell you a little story of what Mike did to the twins...OK it was really to me.....WE had been talking for weeks to them about turning 2 and how 2 year olds don't have paci's. The night before their 2nd birthday he held a ceremony and took away the paci's and....hang on to your hat...PUT THEM IN THE BURN BARREL AND LIT THE FIRE!! He then went to work the next day and left me home with TWO 2 year olds who had no paci's. He is lucky to be alive and so are the twins.

Be patient...there are no kindergartners that have paci's....some still suck their thumbs, though. At least you can throw away a paci...you can't cut off his thumb!

That makes me a feel a whole lot better....Owen doesn't turn 2 until June, but we have been talking for MONTHS about doing it, but like the fact that he goes to bed so easy. So we shall see how long this takes. I want it to be gone by the time ballgames and summer activities start. He does only have it at naptime and night time, am hoping we can eliminate naptime....

I think the "slit/hole" method is easiest for all involved! Breck ended up chewing holes in his and then he totally lost interest because it didn't "work" anymore! Hopefully Owen will lose interest fast, too! At least you're on the home stretch - hang in there, you're sooo close to freedom!!! :)

Read in a Parents magazine article today to have the child plant the paci with some flower seeds and watch the paci flower grow.
